Sweden : Doctoral student in Mathematics

The research will focus on nonlinear waves, especially water waves. The mathematical theory is based on partial differential equations and the study of these equations requires a combination of real and complex analysis, functional analysis and dynamical systems theory.
The position covers four years of postgraduate studies (research and course work) and one year of departmental duties, mainly teaching in mathematics.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements

The special requirements for admission to postgraduate studies in mathematics are completed courses in mathematics equivalent to at least 120 credits, of which 50 must be at advanced (MSc) level. The courses at basic and advanced level should include a degree project corresponding to at least 30 credits. Special eligibility may be obtained through equivalent studies; this will be assessed in each case.
Courses in differential equations and functional analysis are desirable merits.


The basic requirements for admission to postgraduate studies are: a degree at advanced (MSc) level, completed courses equivalent to at least 240 credits, of which 60 must be at advanced (MSc) level, or the equivalent knowledge or qualifications obtained in some other way, in Sweden or in another country.

The RGS Econ is looking worldwide for applicants to the PhD program with an excellent academic record and a Master, Diploma or equivalent degree in economics or related fields. Early-stage PhD students are also welcome to apply. The language of the program is English. Hence, a good command of English is a prerequisite.

We offer 5 scholarships for outstanding students. 3 scholarships, sponsored by the Stiftung Mercator (www.stiftung-mercator.de), foster research in MIGRATION and INTEGRATION and 2 scholarships, sponsored by CINCH (www.cinch-essen.de), support research in EMPIRICAL HEALTH ECONOMICS. Rotary Foundation Global Study Grants for Development


Brief description:
The Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship program has ended in 2012-13. Beginning in 2013-14, The Foundation will offer scholarship opportunities through the Rotary Foundation Global Grants.
Global grants may be used to provide funding for academic studies provided that they:
•  Fund graduate-level study that relates to one or more of the areas of focus
•  Fund studies for a term of one to four academic years
•  Sponsor the academic studies of an individual traveling from the international sponsor district to the host sponsor district

The proposal should provide an overview of the grant activity’s objectives and demonstrate how the activities fit within an area of focus. This process is designed to increase the acceptance rate of grant applications.
Application
Once a proposal has been accepted, Rotarians will submit an online application that provides the Foundation with more detailed grant activity and budget information. (Depending on the award amount or complexity of the project, the Foundation may request additional details.)
